We're Tying the Knot in Hay next summer — and we'd love you to join us

From August 12–15th, 2027, we're gathering at Baskerville Hall, near Hay-on-Wye, for Making Hay. A four day festival to mark my 70th year, share my new album and book. And… tie the knot in a hand-fasting ceremony with Lizi Sage on the Saturday afternoon.

We would love you to join us for the whole gathering. Across the four days, we will have some wonderful live music performers coming, alongside wellbeing workshops, writing, poetry and song, acoustic sessions and jams, a ceilidh and DJ space, and an immersive audio-visual experience.

The vibe will be very co-creative in the Campfire spirit. Bring an instrument if you play one. There will be a dedicated space — The Jam Jar — for spontaneous sessions. We will have music on the garden stage and, at the heart of it all, our hand-fasting ceremony. There will be plenty of time and space to catch up with friends old and new. Camping and rooms available too.

A little note about tickets…

Making Hay is both a very personal celebration and a full four-day folk gathering. It will cost more than £30,000 to create, so ticket income will help us cover the venue, artists, production and everything needed to bring it all to life.

Our £70 'Founding Fire' ticket, which is available now, is a much-appreciated contribution towards the event that we are envisaging, which we are offering to our close friends who have shared our journey with us.

This limited ticket offer will help us to cover the camping cost and a small contribution towards the venue hire for each person.

You will need to put in access code 'FIRE70' on the Ticket Tailor booking page to take advantage of the limited Founding Fire ticket offer. We'd love you to be one of the early founders for this event. Please don't pass on this access code.

We will then look to cover the wider production expenses through general ticket sales. So please feel encouraged to share details of this exciting new festival far and wide.

We also don't want cost alone to prevent someone important to us from being there, so please message us privately if that applies to you. Those who are able to contribute a little more are invited to help us offer supported places to others. With this in mind we have created a 'Pay It Forward' option in Ticket Tailor.
